Before going to the one that concerns Post Jamb, let’s deal first with the University of Calabar Cut Off Mark For All Courses Offered In The Institution:

Important Things To Know About The University of Calabar

Before wrapping up this article, we are taking our time to highlight certain important things to increase your knowledge in the way things are being done in UNICAL as far as admission is concerned.

Please, take note of them very well:

  1. Some universities (especially federal owned) won’t invite you for their Post Utme if you don’t score up to 200 in your Jamb. But for UNICAL, with 180, you can still proceed to the next stage and be invited to participate in the school’s Post Jamb examination – which will determine if you will eventually become a student of the school or not.

For those not able to score up to the required mark in Jamb, you should simply begin to plan how to change to another school or wait till next year.

  1. Just like various other top universities, you should choose the University of Calabar as your first choice when applying for Jamb. This school doesn’t want you to choose them as a second choice. Any candidate who made the mistake won’t even be considered for admission (we are talking about a school where even hundreds of students that had made them their first choice won’t be able to gain admission)
  2. Wisdom demands that aspirants should have prepared all their important academic documents – such as O/Level, JAMB result slip, Birth Certificate and so on. When the announcement for the post Jamb has been made, we expect the management to stress out the important documents they want from you. However, you should go with all important documents of yours (we all know how the country can be at times)
  3. We can’t emphasize this enough: Have a high score in your Post Utme examination. You should know already that you are competing with a lot of students vying for admission into the same school (even the department of your choice). So, the higher your score, the higher your chance of resumption as a fresh student when the next session starts.
  4. The University of Calabar uses catchment area – meaning some candidates from certain places will be given a sort of preferential treatment than others (I.e those from non-catchment areas). Even as that, the fact that you are from a catchment area doesn’t mean you should not strive to get high scores in your exams. Remember that you are not the only one from your area (I.e State of origin is regarded as a catchment area) that are vying for admission to the school.

In conclusion, despite that admission in Nigeria is like a tug of war, you can still make it and achieve your dreams easily (without the need of having ‘connections’ or bribing your way through). To ensure you won’t waste another year at home, just make sure that you work very hard to be admitted into the school.
