Born July 10, 1985, is Michael Owusu Addo professionally known as Sarkodie. Born as the fourth child of the family, he was being raised by a single parent, his mother Maame Aggrey. Sarkodie was born in Tema, Ghana, where he attended school. He attended the Tema Methodist Senior High School and furthered on by earning a degree in Graphic design. Sarkodie started rapping at a young age, after getting his degree from IPMC, he worked as an instrumentalist and was an underground rapper. He attended different rap battle shows and won, one which he appeared on was Adom FM’s popular rap competition Kasahare Level. During that competition Sarkodie met Duncan Williams of Duncwills Entertainment, he met artists like Edem and Castro. They both introduced him to a record producer named the Hammer Of The Last Two. Hammer was an established record producer, after listening to Sarkodie rap flows, he was impressed and decided to feature him on his album which he named the Volta Regime album.


After this featuring and after the rap battle competition, Sarkodie signed a record deal with JM Entertainment. Sarkodie decided to release his own album and he titled it Makye. The year 2013, Sarkodie featured Wizkid, Mario, Ice Prince, and EL on that You Go Kill Me single making it a massive hit all over Africa. The remix peaked at Number one on all Ghana charts. December 21st, 2013, Sarkodie put up a concert for the launch of his new album Sarkology at the Accra Sports Stadium. The album was later released on January 2nd, 2014. The album features guest appearances from Fuse ODG, AKA, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, 2 Face Idibia, Joey B, and Efya. Releasing the Sarkology album was a good one for Sarkodie, as his fan base increased more. Following this, he released the remix of his song Adonia, which became a hit across Africa. The song was featured in BBC’s Capital Xtra Top 35 Afrobeats Songs. That same year, Sarkodie premiered the video for his hit song Adonia remix, and also for his song featuring Castro and AKA Special Someone. He then used it as the launch for his record label which he named Sarkcess Music. An autograph session which was held at the biggest Mall in West Africa, the West Hill Mall. Sarkodie made a huge success that day, as he sold up to 4,000 copies. That same year he spoke at the Harvard University to some students which he tagged The Art of the Hustle. The year 2017 Sarkodie dropped his fifth Studio album which he named Highest. This album was released under his record label Sarkcess music and Dino Recording. The album has guest appearances from Jesse Jagz, Moelogo, Flavour, Korede Bello, Victoria Kimani, and Big Narstie. It comprises of 19 songs, a bonus track, and 3 interludes. Producers on the album include Masterkraft, Jayso, TSpize, Ced Solo, Nova, and Guilty Beatz.

He also worked on the Youth Empowerment campaign, he said the youths should not wait on the government to implement jobs for them, rather they should have an entrepreneur mindset and develop a skill of their choice, so they can empower themselves. Sarkodie got married to his long-time girlfriend Tracy on the 17th of July 2018. This was done as a private wedding, as it even took time before the public knew about it.
