How Do I Become a Pharmacist in Ghana?
Pharmacy is an interesting course and it requires a lot of diligence and hard work to come out as one of the best. However, it is required of you to attend a pharmacy school and get the necessary qualification and licensure to become a recognized and certified pharmacist.
First of all, pharmacy is a science field and only students with science qualifications can study this course. That is why you need to be in the right class (science class) during your secondary education where you will offer pure science subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
Secondly, in order to be among the top favorite during the admission process, you need to possess the West African Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSCE) and meet the necessary grade required. You must have a minimum of a credit pass in 4 core science subjects including the English Language.
Thirdly, you need to sit for the school entrance examination, and interview (optional depending on the school).

In addition, studying pharmacy in Ghana runs for a period of four (4) years for standard programmes, after which you will be awarded a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm). On the other hand, Doctor of Pharmacy is a straight six-years programme.
