Eco bank is a Pan African banking conglomerate, the official name is the Eco bank translational inc. The bank is the leading independent regional banking group in West Africa and Central Africa with banking operations in 36 African countries. Eco bank which was the ETI is a public limited liability company which was established as a bank holding company in 1985. In the early 1980s, the banking industry in West Africa was dominated by foreign and state-owned banks, there were no commercial banks in West Africa which then the ETI was founded and their aim was to fill up that vacuum, which was the space that there were no other banks in West Africa. The ETI has two specialized subsidiaries which are the Ecobank development corporation (EDC) and E-process International.

The EDC operates brokerage houses on all 3 stocks exchange in West Africa. The aim of the EDC was to help develop Ecobank investment banking and advisory businesses throughout the countries, where Ecobank operates while the aim of the Eprocess is to manage the group’s information technology function with a view to ultimately centralising the group’s middle and back office operations to reduce costs, improve service standard and efficiency.
