Delsu Hostel Accommodation Fees

For students who recently gained admission to study at DELSU and will be resuming later this year, it is important to state that the University management has put in place hostel facilities at different prices for those interested.

The prices of these housing facilities range from Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) to as high as Thirty-Six Thousand Naira per session. This is no doubt one of the cheapest hostel accommodation you can get on University campuses in Nigeria. The accommodation fee for DELSU can be paid at any of the designated Banks provided for both old and new students.

The University allows students to also get accommodation outside of the campus if they are desirous and can afford such. Off-campus accommodation facilities available for students of Delta State University Abraka are a single room as well as a self-contained apartment.

A single room outside of the school campus comes at a price of between Fifteen Thousand Naira (15,000) and Twenty-five Thousand Naira (N25,000) depending on the location and proximity to Lectures Campus while some other rooms may be gotten for less than Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000) in the school area.

Self-contained Hostel accommodations outside of DELSU campus range from Forty-five Thousand Naira (N45,000) to Eighty Thousand Naira (N80,000). Prospective students of the University who wish to take advantage of this accommodation facility are expected to carefully read below the Delsu Hostel fees gotten from past DELSU bulletin.

According to this same official bulletin of the institution, students are advised to visit the University website to process their accommodation request online by generating the relevant PIN.

The bulletin also added that the university management was not ignorant of the pains by students go through while registering online for accommodation. Work is being done to ensure the process becomes much easier to navigate for students.

While regretting this unfortunate situation experienced by students while registering for accommodation online via the University’s portal page, the management of the institution called for calm and appealed to the students of the school to show understanding in this regard.

History Of The University

The present location of the main campus of Delta State University, Abraka has a long history of being a Centre of Education. It started out as a Government Teachers’ Training College during the colonial era and retained that same status for a few years into the post-colonial era. It was upgraded to the status of a College of Education that awards Nigerian Certificate of Education (N.C.E.) and it did this from 1971-1985.

In the year 1981, the College of Education became affiliated to the University of Benin, Benin City as a result of which it began to offer degree programs from the year 1981 till 1985 when it became the Education Faculty of the then Bendel State University which had its main campus at Ekpoma. When Edo and Delta States were created in the month of August 1991, the main campus of the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma became the site of Edo State University in the month of December 1991.

This necessitated the setting up of a state-owned University also in Delta state. It was only logical that the existing facility in Abraka is upgraded to the status of a University and this was done on the 30th of April 1992 by the Executive Governor of Delta State at that time, Olorogun Felix Ibru. We look at the existing school fee structure as well as the hostel fees paid by students of the University as of now.
