TYPES OF UK VISA
1. Long Term Visa is applied for if one intends to travel to the UK and stay for a long period of time and one must have a tangible reason for wanting to stay long to explain to the Consulate.
2. The Visitor Visa: Individuals issued with this kind of Visa wishes to stay in the UK for a short period mostly to visit friends and loved ones, for holiday, study, business, training or attend conference
3. Transit Visa: is usually issued when one is just passing through the UK.
4. Official Diplomatic Visa: are visas issued to Government Official and are usually short term.
5. Student Visa: is issued to students who wants to study in the UK for a long period of time like three years.
There are several requirements to be met when applying for UK visa, the most important is :
i. a valid Nigerian Immigration passport valid for at least 30 days after the number of days to be spent in the UK. Application for an immigration passport can be done online or can be done at any immigration office in Nigeria.
ii. valid international passport iii. recent passport sized color photograph on white background (45mmx35mm wide)
iv. visa fee
v. evidence of permission to be in UK if not a Nigerian e.g visa, green card, residence permit etc.
vi. photocopy of passport data page
vii. letter of Invitation
viii. original bank statement ( at least 6 months)
ix. birth certificate for children travelling with their parents.

Authorized representative including physical address and phone numbers.

How to Apply for UK Visa
Step 1 : The UK Visa can be applied for at Teleperformance – UK Application Centers in Lagos or Abuja. This company is in partnership with the UK Government for visas and immigration in Nigeria.
Step 2 : One have to find out the type of visa that meet ones requirements. The different kinds of Visa can be found on the UK immigration and Visa website. The fees for different kinds of visas are indicated on the website. But, the fees for general visitor staying for a short period is 141 US Dollars. The application
fee can be seen on the website and appointments are booked at the UK Visa Application Centre.
Step 3 : Once the form has been filled online, GWF number will be issued, this number should however be taken note of for it will be needed at
some point during the processing of the visa. An email will be sent which will confirm the appointment date, location and the required documents to take along.
Step 4 : Register the details on Teleperformance website, once an appointment has been booked,This is necessary so as to be allowed to attend ones appointment. The application can also be tracked on Teleperformance website afte registering the details on their website.

Step 5 : When going for the appointment the following are required to be taken along to the UK Application Centre:
Copies of application form and appointment confirmation passport and other documents that will be required.
After payment of visa fees (non refundable), biometrics (photo and fingerprints) will be taken and these are done at the Visa Application Centre.
Do not be late for your appointment. Check your confirmation email for the date and time and make sure you get there in time for your appointment. If you are late, your application may be delayed as you will have to rebook your appointment.
According to Teleperformance website ; “Due to global changes in the way visa application are processed, children under 5 years old are now required to attend the Visa Application Centre to complete the application process. It is now
mandatory for them to have their photo taken at the VAC. These changes do not affect already submitted applications.”
Passports and other application requirements are to be submitted Mondays to Fridays between 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M except on public
holidays in Lagos and Abuja UK Application Center.
UK Visa Processing
It takes within four to six working days to process a visa application. Some visa applications take more time in cases like in crime or history of refusal.
Your Visa can be collected between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Mondays to Fridays (Public Holidays not inclusive).
To collect ones visa, one has to go with ones application checklist, original ID and a photocopy of the data page of ones passport. An SMS will be sent to confirm that the application has been sent to the UK Embassy on the submission day and one will be notified to retrieve the passport on its arrival at the UK Application Center.
Collection of the documents is done by oneself and if needs be, it can be done by – Government representative, a parent collecting for his child or collecting on behalf of ones family if you applied together.
