Ground Rules For Visitors
Please note that the hospital generally tightens security around the Neonatal and ICU wards. The following should observed.
Nursery & NICU: One parent at a time will be allowed to visit new-borns. The visiting parent will be subject to strict screening criteria prior to hospital admission. Other family members are not allowed.
Paediatric Wards: Only one parent at a time will be permitted to remain with the admitted paediatric patient. The parent will be subject to strict screening criteria being allowed into the ward.
Critically ill patients: Limited visitors will be allowed; and that is only with the consent of the Hospital Manager. As always, visitors will first be subject to strict screening protocols before being allowed into the wards; they will also be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment before allowed entry into the ward.
The hospital may require you to sanitize your hands and wear a mask upon arrival.
The hospital may refuse entry to children under the age of 12.
Please set all mobile phones to silent or vibrate, and please respect the privacy of the other patients in the wards.
How To Go About Your Visit
The first thing to do is confirm that you have the real name of the patient you wish to visit. Please make sure you do not have a nickname.
Please makes sure you know the exact reason why the patient is at the hospital, or the type of treatment they are receiving. That will determine the ward where they will be.
Check the chart above to know the visiting times that correspond to the ward where your loved one is receiving care.
You may need directions to the hospital. The address is at: Corner of H F Verwoerd, Maré & Begeman Streets, Heidelberg, 1441, South Africa.
If your loved one is in the Paediatric Ward or NICU, or if they are critically ill, then please contact the hospital before going.
At the proper time, arrive at the hospital, and go to the front desk. Give them the name of the patient you want to visit, and tell them your relationship.
The nursing staff will provide directions, as well as instructions.
