My aim in this article is to show you how to sleep with this post nasal drip without any problem.
You can imagine after all the difficulties this had cost you when you try to force yourself to sleep. You then wake up weak with a cough, spitting, throat clearing, hacking, and mucus expulsion with the addition of the irritating secretions moving in your throat. This is indeed a situation anyone experiencing it would hate but what if I tell you you can sleep fine and wake up without all these problems? What if I tell you your sleeping position could even cure this post nasal drip? Interested in all these?
Then read the 3 methods below on how to sleep with post nasal drip and then choose the most appropriate for yourself.
1. PROP UP THE HEAD OF YOUR BED
This is the best practice if you intend to get the best sleep with a post nasal drip. To prop up the head of your bed, put bricks, large books or clothes under the headboard, this would prop the head. After propping it, lay on your back to get the best out of it. Avoid laying on your sides or stomach as this may inhibit a smooth sleep.
2. PROP UP YOUR HEAD WITH PILLOWS
If you are unable to use the above method, then try this. Put 2 to 3 pillows behind your head to prop it up and then sleep on your back. This is important and works with the same principle as the first method. When you prop your head up with this pillows, it makes mucus drain down your throat thereby preventing it excessive accumulation. In using pillows, select hypoallergenic ones since the allergic ones could even worsen the situation.
3. SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH
This sound contradictory to the explanation in the first method right? Not really because it employs extra measures. When you want to adopt this method, instead of putting the pillow beneath your head, you put it under your abdomen to ensure proper alignment. This practice among other things also help keep the body from being flat which under normal circumstances promotes nasal inflammation.
With this, I believe you wouldn’t have problem sleeping with post nasal drip.
