How Many Years To Study Medicine And Surgery In Nigeria?

It takes six years to study medicine in Nigeria for UTME students if there is no strike or incident that can cause a break in the academic calendar and minimum of five years for students who are admitted on the basis of direct entry.

How Many Years to Study Medicine in Nigeria

Direct entry students join classes from 200 level because they have obtained a certificate elsewhere that qualifies them to be in 200 level. B.ecause of this, they will spend five years and graduate at the same time with UTME students.

Direct Entry Requirement to Study Medicine And Surgery

Calabar and OOU accept a degree in science not below second class level.
AAU, ABSU, and OOU accepts degree (not below a good second class lower divisions)
JOS requires Direct Entry candidates to fulfill Jamb requirements
BENIN accepts at least three A’ level passes (not more than one C grade or maximum of 12 points) in zoology or Biology, physics and chemistry at (not more than one sitting)
Lagos state university (LASU), requires a minimum of ‘C’ in each of the subjects and will consider (B.S.C) with a minimum of Second Upper Division for admission.
LAUTECH accept s ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, or Zoology (plus UTME requirements).

OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of 2^nd Class Honours in a relevant discipline.
EBSU accepts B.S.C 2^nd Class Upper Division in any biological science course with at least credit pass in English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in one sitting,
UNIOSUN accepts Acceptable passes (good grade) – total points of 10, in Physics, Biology or Zoology and Chemistry at the Higher School Certificate or Advanced Level of General Certificate Examination or its equivalent.
UNILORIN and ABSU require that all candidates no matter their mode of admission are required to have GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, Physics, at one sitting.
UNILORIN accepts B.S.S (Second Class Honours) in Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Zoology, Microbiology, and other Basic Sciences fields.

Also, requires a minimum aggregate of 13 score points last requires a minimum of ‘C’ in each of the subjects and will consider a Bachelor of Science with a minimum of Second Upper Division for admission.
