Before a candidate aspiring for the school can be considered for screening, the candidates must meet up with the minimum Jamb cutoff mark of the school fixed by the Joint admission matriculation board officials (JAMB) which is 180 before consideration into the school.

2. Business administration

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB passes in Management/Social Science subjects one of which must be Economics.
  • A credit/Merit Pass in ABU Diploma in Accounting, Banking or Insurance. Five ‘0’ level credit passes including the English Language, Economics, Mathematics, and any other two (2) Management/Social Science subjects.

3. Public administration

  • A Merit Pass in ABU Diploma in Public Administration or Local Government. Two ‘A’ level / IJMB passes One of which must include Government.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes including the English Language, Government or History, Economics. At least a pass in Mathematics.

4. Local Government Studies

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB passes One of which must include Government or History.
  • A Merit Pass in ABU Diploma in Local Government or Public Administration. Five ‘0’ level credit passes including the English Language, Government or History, Economics, and any other two subjects.
  • At least a pass in Mathematics

5. Agriculture

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB Passes in Chemistry and Biology or Botany or Zoology.
  • HND in Agriculture or related field of study with a minimum of credit pass
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes including the English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science.

3. Theatre and Performing Arts

  • IJMB or ‘A’ level Theatre or Performing Arts, Literature in English Journalism, Mass Comm. Creative Arts, Music, and Dance, Literature in English.
  • ABU ND in Drama at credit level.
  • NCE in Drama, Theatre or Performing Arts and Creative Arts. Literature in English is desirable.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes to include Literature in English and English Language, and any other Arts or Social Science

4. Archaeology

Archaeology / History

  • Two “A” Level / IJMB with a minimum of “C” in History, Government, Economics, Geology, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. French is an added advantage.
  • NCE with a minimum of “C” in History, Government, Economics, Geology, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. French is an added advantage.
  • Two “A” level / IJMB with a minimum of “C” grade in History and any of the following subjects:
  • Government, Economics, Geology, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and
  • French is an added advantage.
  • NCE with a minimum of “C” grade in History and any of the following subjects:

Archaeology

Five ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language and one of the following: History, Government, Economics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, I.R.K., and C.R.K.

5. French

  • NCE with a minimum of “C” in French.
  • ABU Diploma Minimum of Merit Pass in French Language Education.
  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB pass including French and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes to include English Language and French plus any other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

6. History

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB Passes One of which must be History or Government.
  • NCE with a minimum of “C” in History.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes to include the English Language, History or Government.

7. Arabic

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB Passes including Arabic and other Arts subjects.
  • ABU Diploma in Arabic at credit level.
  • NCE in Arabic.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language and Arabic plus any two other subjects from Arts.

8. Hausa

  • Two ‘A’ level / IJMB Passes including Hausa and other Arts subjects.
  • ABU Diploma at credit level.
  • NCE in Hausa
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language and Hausa and any other two Arts subjects.

  • ABU Diploma in Islamic Studies with a minimum of Merit Pass.
  • ND in Islamic Studies from any University with a minimum of Lower Credit. Five ‘0’ level credit which must include English Language and Islamic Studies.

  • NCE with a minimum of ‘C’ grade in Education and Mathematics

  • ABU Diploma in Home Economics with a
  • minimum of Upper credit.
  • NCE merit in Home Economics and Education.
  • ABU Higher National Diploma with lower credit in Home Economics.
  • Five ‘O’ level credits pass in English Language, Food and Nutrition, Home Management or Textile and Clothing, and any other three subjects.
  1. Agricultural Education
  • NCE Agric Education (Double Major) with Merit passes.
  • HND Agric. Science (ABU) with minimum Of lower credit.
  • ABU National Diploma with a minimum of credit passes.
  • Five ‘O’ level credit passes including Chemistry and Biology or Agric Science, Integrated Science/General Science. Candidates with ND in agriculture with a minimum of lower credit.
  1. Business Education
  • NCE Minimum of Merit pass in Business Education
  • Two credit passes at IJMB in either Economics, Business Management, Accounting etc.
  • ABU Diploma with upper credit in a related discipline.
  • HND with credit pass in Business Studies and R/A stage III in secretarial studies.
  • Five ‘O’ level credit passes
  • including English Language and any four of Accounting Economics, Commerce, Business Methods, Shorthand and Typewriting with at least a Credit in Mathematics.
  1. Library and Information
  • Science “A” Level / IJMB passes in at least two subjects.
  • ABU Diploma in Library & Information Science (with at least Merit Grade).
  • NCE with a minimum of Merit Grade in two subjects. Five “O” Level credits pass including English Language & at least a pass in Mathematics.

  • TCII Certificate with credit/merit in at least five subjects including English Language and at least a pass in Mathematics

  • “A” Level passes / IJMB in at least two subjects which must include Hausa.
  • ABU Diploma in Hausa with a minimum of Merit pass.

  • Five “O” Level credits pass including English Language and Social Science subjects.
  1. Physical and Health
  • Education NCE passes in two major subjects of any other combination with P.E. or H.E. or P.H.E.
  • Two ‘A’ level passes in science subjects; Chemistry Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • ABU Diploma with merit pass in P.H.E.
  • Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and anyone Science subject from Biology and Chemistry.
  1. Guidance and Counseling
  • Merit pass in Higher / Ordinary Diploma in Guidance and Counseling from ABU.
  • NCE with Merit and above in Education and the Teaching Subjects.
  • Five ‘O’ level credit passes in Arts & Social Sciences including English Language with a pass in Mathematics.
  1. Computer Science Education
  • Merit Pass in Higher Diploma and Diploma in Computer, Statistic or Mathematics Education.
  • NCE with Merit in Education and Computer Science.
  • Five ‘O’ credit pass which must include Mathematics, Physics English Language and any other two Science Subjects.

  1. Civil Engineering
  • Two ‘A’ level/IJMB Passes which must

  • ND in Civil Eng. at Upper Credit from an accredited institution
  • HND in Civil Eng. with at least Lower Credit from an accredited institution

  1. Electrical Engineering 
  • ND or equivalent in Electrical Eng. Or relevant field, with a minimum of Upper Credit with Distinction in Mathematics from an accredited institution.
  • A level/IJMB passes which must include Physics and Mathematics.
  • Five ‘0’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry plus any other science subject.
  • Cutoff Mark for Each Department

Abu Zaria admission requirements for each department

  • Medicine and surgery:

this department as dream department for most of the candidates entering into the university tends to have the highest cutoff mark in which a candidate must meet up with to be considered for admission. Being a dream course or department, their cut off mark tends to be 250 minimum score for candidates aspiring for the course.

  • Law:

minimum of 220 on aggregate.

  • Pharmacy:

230 minimum.

  • Accounting:

200 minimum.

190 and above will be accepted for all engineering and science courses excluding Agricultural and Biosystem engineering.

180 and above will be accepted for all other courses.
