Here is the list of the top 10 least developed countries in the world , this countries have exhibited the lowest indicators of socioeconomic development, and the lowest Human Development Index ratings in the world. Using the HDI of countries to rank if they are developed or not is the best way to go about it. The HDI is a composite statistic of education, life expectancy, and per capita income. A country would score higher HDI when the education is higher, lifespan is higher, the fertility rate is lower, the GDP per capita is higher, and the countries inflation rate is lower. I decided to increase the list to top 20 rather than the top 10 least developed countries in the world ;

20. South Sudan : This country has a Human Development Index value of 0.467. The life expectancy of South Sudan is 55.7 years, with a GDP PPP of $2,332 PPP.

19. Senegal : Senegal has a Human Development Index score of 0.466 which is due to the life expectancy of 66.5 years, and $2,188 GDP PPP.

18. Afghanistan : Even though regarded as one of the most dreaded spots on earth they have an HDI score of 0.465 and average life expectancy of 60.4 years. With a GDP PPP of $1,885.

17. Côte d’Ivoire : This country scores an HDI of 0.462 with an average life expectancy of 51.5 years, most students dropping out after 4.3 years of education.

16. Malawi : This African country has an HDI score of 0.445 and life expectancy of 62.8 years. Students only study for 4.3 years of their lives.

15. Ethiopia : This country has an HDI score of 0.442 with a life expectancy of 64.1 years. Students only study for an average of 2.4 years and have a GDP PPP of $1,428.

14. Gambia : This is one of the least developed countries in the world with an HDI score of 0.441 and a life expectancy of 64.1 years of age. Students spend an average of 2.8 years in school and the country has a GDP PPP of $1,501.

13. Democratic Republic of Congo : This country has an HDI score of 0.433 and a life expectancy of 58.7 years. Though students in this country go to school for 6 years, they have a very poor educational system. The GDP PPP of this country is $680.

12. Liberia : The HDI score of Liberia is 0.430 with an average life expectancy of 60.9 years and a GDP PPP of $805.

11. Guinea-Bissau : This African country has an HDI score of 0.420 and low life expectancy of just 55.2 years. with a GDP PPP of $1,362.

10. Mali: The French colony of Mali is number 10 on this list of top 20 most underdeveloped countries in the world with an HDI score of 0.419 and a life expectancy of 58 years.

9. Mozambique : The HDI score of Mozambique is 0.416 with an average life expectancy of 55.1 years, and a GDP PPP of $1,123.

8. Sierra Leone : Sierra Leone has an HDI score of 0.413 and average life expectancy of 50.9 years.

7. Guinea : Guinea lies seventh among the list of the top 10 least developed countries In the world , This country has an HDI value of 0.411 and the average life expectancy of 58.8 years. Students study for an average of 2.4 years before dropping out for various reasons.

6. Burkina Faso : The HDI value of this country is 0.402 with an average life expectancy of 58.7 years and has the lowest school graduates in the world with 1.4 years of schooling. They have a GDP PPP of $1,591.

5. Burundi : This country has an HDI value of 0.400 and an average life expectancy of 56.7 years with a GDP PPP of $758.

4. Chad : The fourth place goes to Chad among the top 10 least developed countries in the world , with an average life expectancy of 51.6 years and HDI score 0.392.

3. Eritrea: This country has been plagued by many diseases and it has really affected their developments. With a Human Development Index value of 0.391 and GDP PPP of $1,130.

2. Central African Republic : The HDI of this country is 0.350. Students attend schools for 4.2 years before dropping out in Central African Republic and their GDP PPP is $581.

1. Niger : This is the least developed most underdeveloped country in the world and it is no surprise based on their low HDI score of 0.384. Though they have a pretty good life expectancy of 61.4 years but they attend school for a ridiculous 1.5 years and have a GDP PPP of $908.
