High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo is an ex-militant commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. He was given birth to on April 12, 1971 in the Nigerian oil producing region – Warri to be precise into a royal family. Tompolo was an average youth in the Niger Delta Region until he became interested in the struggle to liberate his people from the unjust handling by the Federal Government. His struggle peaked in the 90s when he was commanding thousands of militants which he organised in order to carry out attacks on the Federal Government and oil companies working in the region for their exploitation and degradation of the peoples and environments of the Niger Delta.

In 2006, Tompolo formed the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), a movement he formed by bringing all the militant leaders at Niger Delta camp 5 together in order to press for the release of Asari Dokubo and Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, a former Governor of Bayelsa state. Camp 5 was so big and influential that Tompolo claimed that apart from Asari Dokubo and Ateke Tom, every other militant general had his tutelage at Camp 5.

Tompolo continued his hostile actions against the Federal Government as a guerilla commander until when they were granted full amnesty by ex President Umaru Musa Yar’adua. After the amnesty, he had enjoyed enjoyed a lot of good attention from the Federal Government one of which was the contract given to Global West Vessel Specialist Limited (GWVSL), a Tompolo owned company to secure oil pipelines Worthing about $103 millions.

Currently, the Federal Government under President Muhammad Buhari is searching for him on a corruption charge.

It had been reported that on Monday 26th August 2013, Tompolo received his Bombardier SE60 LearJet. This private jet cost him $13.3 millions (N2.12 billions).

It is an improved version of Bombardier Learjet 55 having a longer fuselage and more powerful turbofan engines. This private jet has a cruise speed of 484 mph and a maximum speed of 522 mph. It has the capacity toaccommodate 2 crew members and up to 8 passengers.

The ownership of this jet is still a controversy amongst Nigerians as some felt he wouldn’t be that heartless to own this when his people are suffering but then….. If he actually owns it, then I rest my case.
